Summer 2 in Willow
We hope that you have all had a mental break over half term and enjoyed some time out in the glorious weather at the moment.
May we take this opportunity to outline our learning for the second half of the summer term. This half term we have a new theme which is ‘Traditional Tales’. Each week we will focus on a new tale. We will be learning through tales such as The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs, Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood. In Literacy over the course of the half term we will be looking at characters, settings, retelling, acting out and creating our own stories. Number problems, subtraction, money, sharing, halving and doubling are some of the focuses for Mathematics this half term. As part of Knowledge and Understanding of the World we will be taking a look at materials and plants. Your child will have the opportunity to use their imagination to create a character, make props and retell traditional tales through art in Expressive Arts and Design. We can see that many of you enjoyed Andy’s Wild Workout at the end of last half term and shall continue this as part of Physical Development along with Cosmic yoga and a weekly challenge. Finally, in Personal, Social and Emotional Development we will be thinking about how we are all different as well as personal safety. It is important to note that these plans are flexible as the situation changes and as we adapt to the needs and interests of the children.
