P.E is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Your child should come in in their P.E kit on these days.
Cedar class will have Forest School in the Summer Term.
Homework shall be uploaded to Class Dojo on Friday. Your child should complete their homework and this should be uploaded to their portfolio by the following Thursday. There are hard copies of the homework available. Your child's reading books are changed on a Thursday and Friday.
Our topic for Autumn 2 will be 'Movers and Shakers'.
This half term, we will be learning about historically significant people who have had a major impact on the world. They will learn to use timelines, stories and historical sources to find out about the people featured and use historical models to explore their significance. In particular, we will be looking at; Rosa Parks, Florence Nightingale, Benjamin Disraeli and William Shakespeare.
English Autumn Term 2
In English this half term we will be looking at 'How to be Extraordinary' written by Rashmi Sirdeshpande. We will be looking at writing biographies on our friends and our own autobiographies. We will then be looking at writing and performing speeches and finally, we shall be learning how to write letters. Whilst it is not compulsory for all children to have a copy of the book, it is recommended.
We shall be using the Power Maths scheme for maths this year. We shall be continuing the addition and subtraction unit and then we shall be moving on to multiplication and division. On Wednesdays with Mrs Starling, the children will be continuing to work on ‘Shape' and towards the end of the term Year 3 will begin to look at the concept of ‘Time’.
Notices from Mrs Starling
In RE, our focus is on ‘Festivals’ where we will look at Holi, Navaratri, Eid ul-Fitr, Eid ul-Adha, Advent and Christmas. We will continue to build on a variety of knowledge during SPaG such as expanded noun phrases for Year 2 and adverbs and prepositions for Year 3. Finally, throughout this half term, you will have noticed that your child has been given weekly spelling homework. Thank you to all those children who are completing this activity and uploading it up on dojo. It is lovely to see how hard they are working at home which will really support their learning in school. We kindly ask that your child spends around 20 minutes every week practising how to spell these words. They will then be tested on them in school on a Wednesday and then given a new set of spellings to learn.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
