Our topic for Summer 1 will be 'Coasts'.
This term we will be learning all about coasts. I wonder where we will go and what we will discover? We will be looking at human and physical features in geography, discovering the story of The Mousehole Cat and creating our own seaside sewing piece.
English Summer Term 2
In English this half term we will be looking at 'The Mousehole Cat' by Antonia Barber. We will be looking at descriptive writing, poetry and diary entries.
We shall be continuing to use the Power Maths scheme for maths this year. This half term we will be looking at fractions and then we will be looking at mass and capacity. On Wednesdays with Mrs Starling in Mathematics, Year 2 will be learning about ‘Position and Direction’ in which the children will have the opportunity to describe movements and turns as well as make patterns with shapes. Whilst Year 3 will be finishing their module on ‘Length’ where they will be learning to measure perimeter and solve problems related to length.
Notices from Mrs Starling
I hope that you have had a restful half term. As we enter into the final half term I thought that it would be an ideal opportunity to inform you of what we will be learning on a Wednesday morning. Throughout this half term we will be covering ‘Symbols’ in RE where we will be thinking about symbolism through common symbols, metaphors, food in Judaism and the Muslim symbol of the star and crescent.
Spellings will be the focus in our SPaG lessons in which the main focus will be on suffixes. Finally, may I thank all of those who have been completing their weekly spellings homework. If you can then please upload a photo of your homework onto Dojo.
If you do have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
